Blue R5 astromech unit
from Clone Wars seasons
Today's blue R5 astromech droid was seen in the Star Wars: The Clone Wars
animated series, in two seasons, two episodes. But at first we saw this blue R5
in the Clone Wars season 1 episode 22. I have made this droid soon after that
episode, but the time has just now come to publish him on this site. I made this
droid from several different colored Build a droid parts, painting them
homogeny, following the original as a reference. I don't know its name or
identifier, I think he does not have any. He is often called as unidentified blue R5, because
of his blue painting, so I refer him the same way. (R5-S9 is almost the same
droid, but he was seen in the Jedi Temple, very probably a similar but a
different droid was seen in the Senate.) Its torso is painted blue all
over its shell, but with some white areas on it.
Their part is insignificant in the Clone wars, they are only simple background characters,
but since their skin had been made, it has been applied several times in many episodes, as crowd,
servant, or pedestrian.
Clone Wars S1E22 "Hostage crisis"
During the Clone Wars the Hutt clan hired
Cad Bane for a secret mission.
In an attempt to force the release of the crime lord Ziro the Hutt from prison, bounty hunters seize control
of the Senate Building and hold members of the Senate hostage. Cad Bane, the leader of the operation, with the help of bounty hunter
Aurra Sing
and some other droids and creatures, issues his demands to Chancellor Palpatine who has no choice but to meet his request.
These could be
seen in the
episode Hostage Crisis. As they breach the building, they step in a server
room, where a blue R5 unit, and a blue protocol droid were working. The bounty
hunters
open fire at once, destroying the two droids. The R5 unit got a headshot, the
protocol droid was hit in his
chest.
No matter the droids were not hostile, and were innocents, they have to be
destroyed, because the criminals do not want eye witnesses, or risk the
building alarmed, so they shoot without thinking, leaving the two droids
on the floor disintegrated.
Clone Wars S2E21 "R2 come home"
Such blue R5 unit was in that episode when Anakin Skywalker and Mace Windu land on Vanqor, searching for Admiral Kilian, Ponds, and the clone officers who went down with the Endurance. This Clone Wars episode is one of my favorites. While searching, the two Jedi were assassinated by Boba, Aurra Sing, Bossk, and Castas, exploding Jango Fett’s helmet. Anakin and Mace survived the explosion, but are now buried under a large pile of rubble. The small R2 is the only one, who can bring help. The clever astromech recorded a short video message from Anakin, then
heroically protected the two injured Jedi. Boba, Aurra, and Castas climb through the wreckage of the ship because the young Boba wants to go back to make sure if Windu was really dead and Artoo sees them climbing, and pushes things down the shaft to hold the bounty hunters back. Anakin tells Artoo to contact the Jedi Temple, so Artoo heads outside to contact the Jedi Temple, but runs into a gundark. Only Windu’s Starfighter is available, so R2 tries to make a radio connection via Windu’s radio. But the bounty hunters jam all communications, preventing Artoo from contacting the Jedi Temple. The unbelievable clever Artoo had no other choice to fly Windu’s fighter into the space, pursued by
Slave I all the way into space, out
maneuvering the deadly laser bolts which was shot by the young Boba, where he attempts to dock with a hyperspace ring. R2 moves closer to one ring, making Boba
believe that was the droid choice.
Quickly, Boba fires at the hyperspace rings, but only succeeds in destroying one, and Artoo uses the other
one to reach hyperspace. Artoo lands on Coruscant, where he wastes no time in getting to the Jedi Temple. The
droid races into a Jedi strategy room, rushing on a corridor he pushes away 2 other astromechs, who beeps angrily at him. One of
them was this
blue R5 astromech droid his name is probably R5-S9, the other was a yellow R4 unit
(R4-M1), both were introduced on
CustomStarWars, R5-S9 the recent protagonist of our article, and the
previously published R4-M1. R2-D2 after getting into a brief fight with another astromech in the
briefing room, shows Anakin's message to the Jedi, bringing help finally for his master who is in trouble.
I know that many of you do not really like the astromechs,
saying they are not really significant characters. But I really like them,
mostly because of R2-D2 and the Kotor hero, T3. So I collect them, the full
original row of astromechs from R1 to R7, and the Star Tours units, too. But
since these droids have many colors, and shapes, they give us a great field to
handmake many other units, who have not released by Hasbro.
CustomStarWars proudly presents this blue R5, as the newest
member of those astromechs, who have been already published on our site.
