Blue protocol droid from
Clone Wars seasons
Blue protocol droids were mostly seen in the Star Wars: The Clone Wars
animated series, in many seasons, many episodes. But at first we saw a blue protocol droid in the game
Phantom Menace many years ago. They are often called as blue C-3PO, because they are
almost the same. Only their torso is painted blue, some white ornaments on it.
Their part is insignificant in the Clone wars, they are only simple background characters,
but since their skin had been made, it has been applied several times in many episodes, as crowd,
servant, or pedestrian.
During the Clone Wars the Hutt clan hired
Cad Bane for a secret mission.
In an attempt to force the release of the crime lord Ziro the Hutt from prison, bounty hunters seize control
of the Senate Building and hold members of the Senate hostage. Cad Bane, the leader of the operation, with the help of bounty hunter
Aurra Sing
and some other droids and creatures, issues his demands to Chancellor Palpatine who has no choice but to meet his request.
These could be
seen in the
episode Hostage Crisis. As they breach the building, they step in a server
room, where a blue R5 unit, and a blue protocol droid were working. The bounty
hunters
open fire at once, destroying the two droids. The R5 unit got a headshot, the
protocol droid was hit in his
chest.
No matter the droids were not hostile, and were innocents, they have to be
destroyed, because the criminals do not want eye witnesses, or risk the
building alarmed, so they shoot without thinking, leaving the two droids
on the floor disintegrated.
This blue protocol droid is almost always appears in Coruscant scenes.
For example
in that episode, where Anakin and Amidala hold a party for a roonan senator.
In that episode Anakin sends R2-D2 and C-3PO to the market for a fruit,
which was
planned as a topping on the top of the senator's cake, so in that scene we could see
a blue protocol droid in the background for a second, he is hard to see
but I noticed him. :) It is interesting that not only
Coruscant is a common point, but also Cad Bane, who has his role in this episode too,
the bounty hunter wants to capture C-3PO and R2-D2, in order to download valuable
data from their memory about the Jedi temple, which is needed for his later
holocron robber mission.
In an other scene one blue
protocol droid was seen in
Coruscant, in a corridor of the senate building. Anakin, Padme, and Ahsoka are
in the focus, everybody watch them, but the smarter ones with sharp eyes can
notice a blue droid in front of them coming towards them. A similar, or maybe
the same roonan senator can be also detected in the crowd.
One day Padme and Ahsoka Tano are visiting Palpatine in his office.
While
they are talking, behind the chancellor we can see his usual dignitary Mas
Amedda AND a blue protocol droid standing. As a kind of servant the droid serves
drinks to the visitors and his master. This means Palpatine also had such a blue
protocol droid in his residence like our today's protagonist.
The Phantom Menace PC game
We are on Coruscant again, but in this time this is Star wars:
The
Phantom Menace game. Padme
Amidala and captain Panaka's air taxi is shot down by the Separatists, so they
have to find an other air transport to reach the galactic Senate Chambers.
Captain Panaka sells his electro binoculars to get some money, and they buy the
tickets of a passenger. This is a kind of city tour as I remember, but anyway,
they finally get the opportunity to reach those crowded lines on the skies of
the capitol. One of the stops is the Senate building. As they want to check in,
there will be the surprise, a blue protocol droid is at the counter. :)
