On the ninth level of the game, during the Coruscant mission
there will be Senate Guards. In this level you play
Captain Panaka, you escort Amidala. I liked this level because Panaka and the Queen are both interesting characters to play with, and to know them, hear them. The R-65 Heavy blaster (Panaka’s pistol) is interesting though, because the shots can bounce off walls, which can give you tactical options and possibilities. In addition, it has an armor-piercing effect, so it is excellent against the boss of the level. You need to protect the Queen in this level, so remember to check up on her if she's behind you somewhere. Although she is quite tough, she can survive multiple shots , she cleverly crouches to the ground, though sometimes right in the firing line.
After the
Tatooine missions we arrive at Coruscant.. You start the level on a floating landing platform. The Jedi say good-bye to take Anakin to the Jedi Council. We stay with us, Panaka and the Queen. There is a single blue coruscant guard on the platform who will help you take our air taxi, but suddenly a floating droid appears, which will
destroy it.
The air taxi, and very probably the Blue Coruscant Guard, too. Take the R-65 heavy blaster with 100 shots right near the ship. Make absolutely sure you save about 50 shots from this R-65 blaster for the boss monster at the end of this level. In one corner of this platform is a light repeating blaster with 300 shots. When you walk towards your taxi, your driver and the taxi are destroyed by a flying hover cannon. Use your blaster to destroy the hover cannon, and then take out any enemies nearby. So your Coruscant adventures have already started.
After the level start, Coruscanti guards appear at the end, too. After we have killed the Coruscant mercenary mentioned above, go through the door, advance to the elevator, and the moving platform to the other side, where Palpatine will wait for you with two Cosurcant guards. There will be a small conversation with the senator and the Coruscant level will end.
The
Senate Guard, also referred to as the Republic guard or blue guards, was an elite security force of the Galactic Republic. Its duties were to protect the Republic's Galactic Senate and the Supreme Chancellor. The Senate Guard was centered on the galactic capital planet of Coruscant and as it was also responsible for protecting the Senate District, it shared policing jurisdiction with the Coruscant Security Force. Next to the Jedi Order, the Senate Guards were seen as the defenders of democracy and symbols of security, especially during the last centuries of the Republic when there was no standing army.
The best of the Senate Guards were often invited to become a part of the elite Senate Commandos division who carried out secret government missions. (This organization could be seen in Clone Wars several times for example in the Argyus episodes, but in many other places as well.) The Senate Guards were a frequent sight in the halls of the Senate Building and the Senate Office Building, their ceremonial uniforms and robes helping to blend in with the formal
settings. In the waning days of the Republic, Supreme Chancellor Sheev
Palpatine
formed a personal security detail of red-robed guards whom he favored over the
Senate Guard. It is interesting to see the symbolic changes that can be
perceived in the outfit "evolution" of the guards. First the
plume ornament was symbolically removed
from the helmet. Then the soldier's face was covered, the front of the
helmet
closed, making the squad uniformed without face. Then the blue linen cloth became red. Here, on the basis of the Star Wars color symbolism, I perceive that blue color can be linked to the Jedi, in particular the color of the Jedi Guardian's lightsaber crystal, while the red color has obviously symbolized the Siths for millennia. He first began to phase out the Senate Guard with the clone shock troopers of the Coruscant Guard. Eventually, as Galactic Emperor, Palpatine disbanded the Senate Guard altogether and replaced them with his Royal Guards.
The Senate Guards were mostly seen in Episode 1 the Phantom Menace, and in the Clone Wars series keeping
watch over the Senate District on the Republic capital planet of Coruscant where the Senate Building, containing the Galactic Senate Chamber, and the Senate Office Building were located at. The Senate Guards often appear in scenes together with Palpatine. However, they sometimes protect the senators who required daily protection at their personal bodyguards.
Senate Guards were easily identified by their blue robes and large helmets with a plume and open faceplate, their ceremonial garb blending in with the formal settings of the Galactic Senate. Underneath the robes, they wore blue colored armor. The Senate Commandos forgod the robes and simply wore the armor and helmets. Senate Guards were armed with a variety of weapons. While performing guard duty in the the halls of the Senate or escorting dignitaries, they most frequently carried Force pikes as well as blaster pistols or blaster rifles. They also utilized more heavy blaster rifles such as the DC-15.
The
Blue
Coruscant Guards' helmet is not only a symbol of historical traditions within
Star Wars. The helmet recalls the ancient times of our earthly history. It is
easy to see the Greek externalities, the Athenian and Spartan hoplite helmets.
The
age has the same heroic culture and legend, in which masculinity and the martial
arts had "purity" still had a similar nimbus, as the old clean times was told by
old Ben, in which they fought with elegant weapons of the more civilized days,
pure, noble duels with lightsabers. Though the fight is never
exalted,
as Yoda said, there is nothing great in it, though, this kind of knightly close
combat is miles more noble than the later mass murders with modern techniques,
and weapons. In the Greek era the ornament of the helmet was feather or
horsehair. In the next big era, this helmet did not diasappear; some contingents
of the Roman Army had the same helmet. The Praetorian Squads (do not mix them
with the Pretorian Guardians of Ep8!) were wearing similar helmets, but it also
appeared on other roman services. At the same time, there were such helmets on
roman officers and centurios, but their head decorations
were often crossed, from ear to ear, not from nose to temple. The function of
the metal part under the ornament
was
to divert a puncture or an impact to one side, slip from the helmet to protect
the skull.
Interestingly, some gods or godess of this era were also depicted in such
helmet. For example here is a pic of Pallas Athene, who (I think) was not in the
need of armors as a godess. Especially such funny way. She only has some plating
on her legs, and no more protection on her torso on the vital organs. Only the
helmet on her head, yet, that helmet is pushed up on her forehead, which does
not help too much that way. Anyway, the helmet is very similar to that one,
which our protagonist, the blue senate guard wear.
