Suvam
Tan was a rodian merchant in the game Knights of the Old Republic 1, who operated an 
abandoned Republic space station around Yavin at the time of the Jedi Civil War. After Revan's redemption, he and Suvam Tan became friends. Revan visited his station several times to trade and play pazaak with the rodian, and once Revan even helped him drive off a few Trandoshan thugs, saving Suvam Tan's life.
A former
slave for the Sith on Yavin 4 during the Great Sith War, Suvam was an accomplished inventor, having been apprenticed to a Baragwin weaponsmith.
At the end of the Exar Kun War, the Old Republic fleet bombarded the surface of
Yavin 4, killing the Sith, and unfortunately Suvam's Baragwin friends, too. His masters have been also killed, so Suvam Tan became free. He then searched several of the moons of Yavin for salvageable parts, having memorized several bountiful locations during his slave days. There are still some areas on the surface, where he claims there are some more salvageable part remained unhurt despite of the heavy bombardments.
Suvam Tan took up residence on Yavin Station, a supply depot abandoned by the Republic following the war's end. There he set up a trading post and workshop. There, he became known as a skilled mechanic and inventor, even attracting the attention of the Exchange. His inventions were sought after by many, especially smugglers.
Suvam Tan made a business with them, they provided him food supplies, raw materials, and accessories, and in exchange he crafted them some fine weapons and other armaments.
He even constructed a lightsaber, and some say crafted, others say scavenged some really powerful crystals in it, most notably the legendary crystal artifacts Heart of the Guardian and Mantle of the Force, which may have been later used by the reformed Revan in his hunt to find the Star Forge.
During this time,
Suvam Tan scavenged a number of other valuable objects, which he always shared with his friend, Revan, who used this station as a supply depot, and a base of multiple upgrades. So he dressed, armed, and geared his party with many of Suvam Tan's armors, weapons, and other accessories, which were much more powerful then all other stuffs available at other vendors on the other planets. Also, we have to keep in mind, Suvam Tan on Yavin pays a lot more for almost everything that you have in your inventory. If Revan and his party had something which is no more needed, a less powerful gun, that you have, or a weaker armor, that you unequipped from any
team member, and even the Tatooine swoop race tickets and wraid parts are worth much more if you sell them to Suvam than anyone else! Just offer him any goodies, spare things, and you'll get much more credits from Suvam Tan! So trading with him is a good idea!
Suvam Tan is a hardcore and addict pazaak player, that is his favorite game. In addition, Suvam is willing to play Pazaak for the substantial amount of 750 credits, which is the largest bet in the whole game! So we can collect a nice summ from him, that we can spend for his goodies, basically we can have those items from free. Although it is not so easy that it sounds, because Suvam Tan is a great card player, and with his deck he almost always able to finish the deal with 20. Anyway, if you yet happen to able to beat him 10 times, you'll receive a 20% off of all his
possessions, including the best armors, (like this black armor, that my Revan wears in this manaan screenshot) and even the wished lightsaber crystals! So before you buy anything, try to win 10 times over Suvam, and from that point you'll have a good discount in his store! 
The best items in his store are the Heart of the Guardian and Mantle of the Force lightsaber crystals for Revan, the Light and the heavy version of the
chitin armor for Revan or Canderous Ordo, which is the best upgradeable armor of the whole game with some extra bonus points (STR+DEX), and he is the only source of the Baragwin items, such as 
a Baragwin armor for Mission with some extra 8 or so stealth points, and some Baragwin shields for 
T3 and HK-47, which never deplete down, and have a significant defence value, which makes our droids almost invulnerable with a single shield! In this screenshot T3 is using a baragwin shield, (bought from Suvam Tan) that is the red aura around him, and he is using a Baragwin flamethrower against this Sith student. My Revan is just relaxing and smiling there, watching his
skilful droid and those flames that devastating his opponent, melting him in the concrete.
Once when Revan re-visited his old rodian pal, he found him surrounded by some 
trandoshan thugs. Revan had no other choice by attacking the wicked trandos, since they
did not listen to the calm words, and decided to kill the rodian. Revan helped him by killing the Trandoshan aggressors, saving Suvam Tan's life. Although this did not make Suvan happy, because the missing Trandoshan will
be soon noticed by the Exchange, and would send others, so Suvan Tan survived, but had to abandon his secret hide-out. After this point, Revan could never ever visit him, the Yavin base became no more available for the Ebon Hawk.
