Sith assassin droid or Sith war droid

Knights of the Old Republic 1 and 2

sithwardroidSith assassin droids, otherwise known as Sith war droids, were droid foot soldiers of the Sith Army during the Jedi Civil War, and later they were a part of the Sith infantry during the First Jedi Purge, who fought and chased the remaining Jedi who were sentenced to death. (However by this time everyone else were chasing the Jedi, including the human Sith Assassins, the neutral bounty hunters, the Dark Jedi, and of course the Sith knights themselves, too.) Their distinctive armor and skills set them apart from other droid_destroymilitary droid types, because there were other kind of droids fighting amongst the Sith troopers in the battles. While the Sith assault droids and other kind of droids were rather robots, looking like an early droideka, which is being destroyed by Revan in the Starforge, in this screenshot, or a kind of jolee_sith_jarordroiddroid walker, which is being damaged by Jolee Bindo in the Sith Temple in the Rakata world. The Sith assassin droids rather looked liked humanoid in armor, moving and acting as a human. They could even speak, and think, while other sith droid types were only good at moving and firing. Their helmet looks a bit like Darth Vader's helmet for me, but anyway, their look often struck fear into the heart of their enemies. Even a lone sith assassin droid symbolized the extension of the Sith, an an army of the represented the blunt instrument and the extended arm of the Sith everywhere. The majority of Sith war droids were once Darth Revan's returning droid armada, who were escorting the traitorous Jedi from the Republic forces to the Sith Empire. Since in the early times there were not enough recruited rookies into the Sith Army for long, these war droid were helped a lot maintaining the power of the Sith over the Galaxy. In the early times the Sith were quite weak, every men were valuable, and even the droids were needed, protected, and maintained after the battles. The Sith even developed their war droids, so they had 5 series, which were all a bit stronger, a bit more powerful, or cleverer than the earlier series. Variants included the Mark I, Mark II, Mark III, Mark IV, and Mark V, which were all outwardly identical, either differenced in their colors, or in other characteristics. They have been controlled by remote signal from a command center, pretty much like the Droid Control Ships of the Trade Federation and the Confederacy of Independent Systems millennia later, so the battle droid idea, and the droid contoller mechanisms were not the invention of the Neimoidians, sith_army_desktopthese technologies were known in the Old Republic era, well before the Battle of Naboo. Sith assassin droids were equipped with blaster rifles and could benefit from personal energy shields, which, unlike spherical energy shields utilized by other models, allowed them to move while shielded, resulting them an efficient and powerful fighting force, especially if they attacked together with the Sith troopers, Sith knights, Dark Jedis, just as seen in this screenshot behind Lord Malak.

Sith assassin droids were often used to protect Sith bases, and other kind of important Sith structures. With a local power source, the droids were perfect guarding and patrolling a not too big area, and in great numbers, they were enough to defend the installation, while the majority of the human army were fighting somewhere else. This is sith_assassindroid_markawhy we often met with such Sith war droids in some of the tombs of the Sith Lords, used to repel any enemy action, protecting the sacred resting place of the ancient Sith rulers. We met the strongest Mark V war droids in the tomb of Marka Ragnos for example, guarding the narrow corridors of the tomb, aided by land mines, placed all over the ground to keep away uninvited visitors. (Notice the color difference between the droids, the rust color, and the silver blue types are the most common variants, I hand made a silver blue for myself, which will be shown after the article.) sith_assassin_droid_freedon_naddBut we have to encounter such Sith assassin droids in the tomb of Freedon Nadd, too, however my team, Handmaiden, Visas Marr, and Harharr sith_assassin_droidsoon made debris from these droids in the screenshot. We also met these Sith war droids in the streets of Ahto City (in the Manaan capitol city) they kept away the citizens and Revan from the sith_assassin_droid backSith base, at least they tried... I made a screenshot for you from those droids, who were guarding the entrance of the Manaan Sith base, from the back, and standing in front of the, to give you a good and close perspective, how these droids looked like, before destroying them all to infiltrate into the base. Finally, but not at last, these bandon_assassindroidSith war droids were often guarding Sith warship corridors, and seal doors, this was seen even in Lord Malak's ship, however the angry Darth Bandon destroyed these two droids by Force pushing them to the wall, as an intro, or a demonstration of his raw power, and cruelty.

As the Sith Empire has grown, and they became stronger and richer, the importance of the droid became less vital. While Darth Malak ruled the Empire, the Star Forge just poured these droids in thousands, and while the Sith Triumvirate got in rule, these droids were seen as expendable sith_assassin_droid_broken_tulakand useless droids by the Sith commanders and superiors. The droids were cheaper to manufacture, than to repair. If a droid had a malfunction, or had been damaged, the Sith first had technicians to repair them, but later they did not care with the damaged droids, just left them there, move less, standing inoperative, with hanging head down. We will often meet such damaged battle droids at several locations in the game. If your character has some extra parts, and has the needed repair skill, you will be able to repair these droids, gaining an extra team member, or sending the droid to patrol, or programming them to protect you and your team. Soon after, the Sith realized this, they started to construct such sith_assassindroid_selfdestructassassin droids, that had a self-destruction sequence. The self-destruct mechanism causes the droid to destroy itself under a predefined set of circumstances, for example it was enabled when the droid got damaged seriously, and had no chance to survive an encounter. It was also found useful on droids and other systems (such as data terminals) when a malfunctioned or damaged droid could endanger large numbers of people around it. The war droids had built-in explosive charges so that the droids can be destroyed in the event that they go out of control and could endanger a populated area with some of our team members around its radius. The detonation of a suicide droid can deal a larger damage to our character, than its previously shot bullets all, so try to avoid  sith_assasin_droid_plasmaclose combat with these droids, use droid destructing Force powers from a distance, or direct your ranged team members to shoot the droids from a safe distance. T3 for example has great droid arms, ion cannons, and plasma cannons can damage the assassin droids very well, that is the safest method to get rid of them, if you do not want to stay such a large detonation, that my Exile Jedi and Kreia got in the Onderon palace, when 4 self destructing combat droids tried to stop them, but realizing they won't succeed, they initiated the self destruct sequence, inflicting a big detonation damage for everybody around them.

sith_assasin_droid_mataleSome individuals also found such broken, or inoperative Sith assassin droids, and after repairing them, they started to use them for their own purposes. sith_assassin_droid_czerkaEven some farmers, such as Ahlan Matale and Nurik Sandral, used these droids as bodyguards at Dantooine as their private army, to protect their lands, and to be prepared to confront the neighbor, if the time has come. Also, some corporations had occasionally such sith war droids, for example Czerka corporation at Telos. We do not know, if they found and repaired some damaged droids, or they got or bought them from their Sith allies, but anyway, Czerka had several Sith assassin droids in their base, our Exile had to fight them later on in the game.
