Nowadays certain Star Wars characters are not only in the known film episodes, but we can enjoy them in several cartoons, or can be grievous_bodyguard repcomplayed with in some games. Magna guards are hopefully like that. While we can control them in Battlefront, Republic Commando gives opportunity to fight against General Grievous' IG-100 Series MagnaGuards. As General Grievous' personal guards, these droids possess exceptional attack strength and strong defensive capabilities. They are equipped with an electrostaff melee weapon that can deal a great amount of damage against unshielded opponents. The electro staff weapon of Grievous' Magna Guard droids are lethal, with high-energy tips on both ends. Its EMP (electromagnetic pulse) magna_electrostaff attackcharges are especially effective against Clone Troopers, whose light armor and their light personal shield cannot shield the wearer, so the EMP charge penetrates these clone armors with ease. Also, it jams the electronic functions of the armor, from the radio to the visor's picture projector system. And with tears in your eyes you cannot see well, and paralised muscles you cannot move, so you won't be able to fight. I warn you not to underestimate these magna droids, because you are not a Jedi just a clone trooper. Neither your skills, nor your weapons cannot be compared to Obi-wan, or Anakin, who were seen cutting several magnas into pieces easily, but that is an other story, not yours. You will sweat and suffer if you meet such IGs, that is for sure. In addition, these droid are not only battlefront 2 magnaguardmastered in close combat, but they are very good at ranged attacks, too. These droids were equipped with Bulldog RLR weapons in Battlefront, while in Republic they have twin homing missiles launched from their back. This means they will find you, there is no mercy, if fired, these homing torpedoes will damage you and/or your squad. These missiles fire two at a time, homing in on their unlucky target. But this is a fictive thing, this is not authentic, only a Republic Commando specific.

But Magna guard are not only strong opponents because of their weapons. Their fighting skills are impressive. And lethal. They possess so great fencing skills that cannot be compared with any other opponents than a Jedi. One on one, or even with a grievous_bodyguard droid_somersault jumpsmaller clone group you’ll meet a very dangerous enemy with a risk of serious injuries or even death after the fight. But not only their fencing style makes them hard. The MagnaGuards also have the ability to jump or let’s say to fly long distances, making them very difficult targets to destroy, or even to hit. Also, they are very clever. They enter into magna_guard_jumps on a houseyour close combat area, and they attack from some inches that you cannot be able to use your rifle or grenades. It often happens, if you have someone to protect, for example this wookie in this picture,. The magna attacks the wookie immediately from very close distance. And you won't be able to help him! You may saw movies, where two men were fighting with magnadroid_attacks wookieeach other, rolling on the floor, wresting, and the third person just stood there with pistol in his hand, but cannot fire, because there was no clear target on the enemy. Because the enemy was too close of his enemy, and the third person did not want to risk hitting his own friend! Some may don't care with this, and shoot anyway, risking his squadmate's life, saying it is not important, after the fight the fallen clone from friendly fire can be revived, but it is good to know, the AI is clever. (At least the enemy AI...)

The Magna likes magna_guard attacks someone in coverto attack person, who has some other task to do. It is also a clever move. Let's say you ordered someone into a demolition position, to throw grenades on a Spider droid. For example Scorch in this picture. The Magna attacks him, and magna_attacks grenadier who attacks a spider droidScorch cannot throw grenades on the Magna, because they would both die in the detonation so close. So he stops throwing grenades, the starts kicking and punching the droid with bare hand, what is strategically good for the Magna, but for Scorch it is a handicap. Also, keep in mind, his duty was to destroy that Spider, what was abandoned, so you have to do it yourself. And if you are fighting at some other location, you are busy, and you won't notice that your teammate needs help. And he stands there, staring at me, challenging me, too. You cannot help Fixer now. You can rush the Magna, but he stays in the cover, so your friends could not snipe him. So you'll be alone. Or you order the other two clones to abandon sniping positions, and come here, but in that case they are more vulnerable, and the Magna won't just wait for them, you can believe me...

If magna_selfdestructyou manage to kill a Magna somehow, do not be close to him in his last seconds. The Magna has a self-destruct function, similar that a Predator has. Or as we are Star Wars fans, let's say similar that the HK-50 had down the sublevels of Peragus, after he was defeated by the Exile, the droid destroyed himself, hoping that will finish Exile, Kreia, and Atton, too. The Magna does the same. It looks like a fusion detonation, a great firework, which is suggested to see from somewhere else.

We meet Magna grievous_repcomguards at the first time in the level „The Bodyguards”. We are on Kashyyyk, the wookie homeland. We have to save them from Trandoshan slavers, and while killing the lizards grievous_bodyguard kachirnosuddenly we meet Grievous and his IG-100. The advisor tells the HQ wants us to track grievous, and attack them. Soon we notice them standing by Grievous’ starfighter. The general is having a word with his guard, when magnaguard_wookiee tarffulthey spot us staring at them through a window. The Magna jumps a large to that magna_captive_wookiewindow, and closes it with a grill, preventing us to climb through, but still we could shoot at them. Yet the squad decides to go down on foot. Grievous flies away, but the Magna stays, waiting for us. We kill the Trandos on the way down help Wookies out, and even you'll find Tarfful. He is very strong, but still can grievous_fleedie, so protect him! He’ll be a good ally against the Magnas. Blow up the magnadroid_attacks tarffuldoor finally, and enter the court area. You'll see a MagnaGuard. He is very strong, and attacks the squad immediately as they arrive. It will be a tough fight, especially that you face them at the first time. Your clips are probably empty, after killing those massive Trandoshans, so it can be a good idea to change for a local weapon, a Trando or a Wookie weapon, which can reloaded from the found grievous_guard droid_somersaultweapons from the ground. It will be a looong fight, prepare for it. You won’t be able to hit the magna just occasionally, he will be somersaulting and jumping all over, sometimes flying on the wall of a large house nearby. If you manage to kill him finally, do not be too happy, an other will come, and you can start it over with empty clips and injured. You’ll be wise to set up 2 snipers up on the ramps, or behind covers, and do the shooting yourself. You'll have to take both of them, once they are killed, this level will end.

Fate of the Resistance level

You’ll meet a lot of SuperBattleDroids in a big room. Take them all out, moving slowly ahead step by step. You are wise to reload and heal now. At the end of the room is health dispenser and some ammo on the ground. After that, put snipers around, because hope of resistance_magnaTrandoshans will keep attacking you constantly and some smaller enemies while you have to focus on the Magnas. And soon the Hell unleashes. After some easy enemies, Magna Guards will come in. Tarfful will destroy everything metallic, or robotic with great care, he helps a lot, but killing the Magna is still difficult, no matter this time you have a wookie companion, too. After you managed to kill them, be sure everybody will be healed in the party, and that you have enough ammo, (you should do this ALL TIME TIME when you finish a level) and leave to the next area.

Moving Upstream level

You are now with several big battles behind you. You’ll reach a hangar, you'll need to protect it. There are 3 turrets on the edges of the map, it worth to tell every Delta member to mount one. You’ll 3 magna_upstream levelbe the idiot in the middle, the bait. You’ll pray not be be destroyed by your gunner fellows, who will shoot around with large detonation fire power cannons, and you’ll pray to survive the enemies, too. 3 I say THREE Magna Guards will come this time, wow, that is quit correct and fair amount. You'll need all the firepower you can get. Best strategy to strafe around all the time, not focusing to destroy the enemies, just to stay alive while the cannon gunners up there burn everything up around you. If someone attack one of your gunners, help him out immediately. You need them, but they need you, too!

The Final Strike level

These magna_attacks scorchmentioned levels are all on Kaskyyyk, this last one too. A Separatist drop ship threatens all of Delta's won, delivering dozens, or hundreds of droids in waves into the Wookie city. It's up to you again, as usual. Only these four Delta commandos are there to reach the vessel and shoot it out of magna_spider droid scorchthe sky, do not hope in reinforcements. You'll be ambushed by Geonosian bugs and a Magna Guard just to feel all right, if you would miss them. Not only the Eorepean heat will make you sweat as you finish this level. (Tjis article was written in summer, if you read this later on, and it was a terrible heat in this time.) But if you succeed, you won the Kashyyyk level of the game.

Delta Squad manned four Heavy AA turret against a CIS dropship. Once the ship was destroyed, Advisor ordered the Deltas to regroup at Boss's position. Only two clones arrive... Sev did not make it to the rendezvous point. The squad receives a last transmission from him, in which it becomes clear that he is under heavy attack and is possibly injured or killed. The clones always obey orders unconditionally, but this time they almost disobey it, they wanna go back for Sev, no matter what the Advisor told. Delta Squad prepares to rescue Sev, but the yodacommander orders them to pull back. However Scorch is raving with fury, they can't risk the mission, they had to leave their friend back. As Anakin was not permitted to turn back the Gunship to pick up Padme Amidala who felt out from the Republic Gunship, as it would have given a good chance for Dooku to escape, Republic Commando neither were permitted to rescue their brother, because it should have risked the secret operations that were started and led by Master Yoda. He was a Jedi general at this time, and he is just arriving to Kashyyyk to help the wookies, which was continued in EPIII.

This was an easier custom work, anybody can try it. Just first remove the cloak from the droid, because they don't wear it in Repcom. Then a little upgrade does good, if you have some electronic effect, just attach it to the vibrostaff, that makes is look like making those EMP sparks. Then if you have the mood, paint the head for more droid like features, with silver, ink, etc., and the eyes make it more photoreceptor look like.
