Akkere

Knights of the Old Republic 2

Akkere was a male Sullustan NPC in the game called Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2: The Sith Lords. He was a simple droid repairman on the planet Dantooine. Akkere is standing near the Khoonda building beside his boxes all the time. He has some parts and accessories in those boxes, which he is willing to sell for you for a proper amount of money - as he is a parts merchant, too. Since he akkeresells droid parts, T3-M4, and HK-47 (I think GO-TO, too) will be happy, and will force you to buy a nice new part for them like a child, who notices a nice thing in a shopwindow, and asks his/her parents to buy it, crying "pleeease, mom/dad" to force the parents for extra consumption. Watching the illustration you may think that the assassin droid HK-47 is even willing to beat up Akkere to require some new parts for him, but you can not insult him, yet.

Azkul and his bandits are planning to overrun the Dantooine Khoonda, so controlling a Light Sided Exile you'll have the chance to strengthen Khoonda's defense systems, he can help them to be prepared against the attack of Azkul, organizing the resistance, ACTIVATING all available defenses: he akkere's hydrospanner was found in a droidcan heal the injured Dantooine militia soldiers, can set many mines in to the path of Azkul, can activate the anti infantry turrets, and can activate the defense droids to attack the the hostiles. But in one of the defense droids we will find Akkere's Hydrospanner! When we ask him what he was doing in the droid store it reveals that Akkere was stealing parts from the Khoonda militia's defense droids and from the goods in the store. The Light Sided Exile forgave Akkere, after he revealed that he had stolen the parts to help his akkere stolen the parts to help his familybrother, whose wife was pregnant but they couldn't afford a doctor. Later, as atonement, the Exile asked if he would join the militia against the army of Azkul. Akkere voluntarily joins the militia, and helps the good guys at the First Battle of Dantooine. He took part in defending Khoonda alongside the Exile.

The Dark Side Exile can blackmail, or even threaten the life of Akkere after he revealed the crime. However the small Sullustan merchant is not a warrior, you can set him against your Force user, heavily armed Exile Jedi AND his two fellow companions. The fight will be unequal, the fragile unarmed Akkere must protect himself with his bare hands - without the less chance of success. Of course after 1 second Akkere will be dead, and the DS gamer can be satisfied with the evident DS Point. And the Dark Exile can find the most destructive explosive from the whole KotOR series by looting the corpse of Akkere - the thorium charge. That is very rare in the game, there are 2 of these, that is the way you can have the first one. The dead Akkere will not join the militia, and the Dark Exile will deal with the remaining volunteers later... His task will be to help and prepare the attack of Azkul, which means he has to short out the resistance, DEACTIVATING the previously mentioned defenses: he kills the injured Dantooine militia soldiers, disarms the mines from the path of Azkul, deactivates the anti infantry turrets, or reprograms them to attack the defenders, and deactivates the defense droids, or reprograms them to attack the defenders instead the hostiles.

The Sullustan race is a brand new race in the KotOR series, in KotOR1 they haven't appeared, but in KotOR2 you can meet them in some locations. Of course they are not "Akkere", they are other but perfectly the same Sullustans. There are many NPC-s who can be seen several times at several locations, their outlook, voice, and outfit are absolutely the same. I chose and handmade Akkere, because his background story makes him more then a simple Sullustan NPC. sullustan npcAnyway, you will meet these nice big ear-big eyes sputtery Sullustan characters in their grey pilot gear at a few locations during your game. For example at Telos, on your way into the Entertainment Module. This one here is just being intimidating by two thugs, poor boy was harmless, but he was beenged by the big guys. He tries to say excuses, begging "please, I don't want any trouble, it was an accident, I swear". They may had collided, a thug may knocked up against Akkere, then picked at him, like "hey a**hole you'll pay for this!" (you may know this method from the streets...) Anyway, don't let it happen don't let them kill that innocent Sullustan, a Light Sided Exile Jedi has the power, and the chance to protect these harmless creatures, so do it, get rid of those two thugs, send them away, or if they refuse to leave you can even stand up against them. It was easy for them to intimidate a weaker one, tell them to show what they can do against you! Especially that you don't have any weapons, as the TSF soldiers had confiscated your armaments, when you were arrested in regards to the destruction of Peragus Mining Facility. You were cleared of charge, but you gotta visit Dol Grenn and his protocol droid, (I hope you have read that article, too!), you will have some paperwork before you could regain your weapons. So you don't have any weapons on you, so you gotta use your initial weak force powers to disarm the two aggressive thugs. Or, if you got the mood, you can beat them up with BARE HANDS, that is even a bigger shame for those two "aces". If they collapse, your award will be some LS points, and the glory, that you used the Force what you got as a gift to protect the innocent, and for a good aim.

DS players might decide to let the Sullustan killed by the thugs, the reward will be some DS point. They can do it even crazier, if they insult and kill the two thugs, then they can finish the interrupted job on the little Sullustan taking his money, then killing him, too. But acting this way will cause an Influence loss with Kreia and/or Atton.

sullustan patronThe previous Sullustan was without a name, but at least he talked to us, and had his part in the story. But there are even less important Sulustan NPCs in the game, who are just passengers, or just drinking in a cantina, as a patron. This one doesn't even speak, just takes a sip from his drink occasionally, and foolishly gazes the "spinning room" around him. This one is a Sullustan cantina patron, he has no role, he is just a "decoration". Still, he has the same face and the same outfit like Akkere has, that is why I must mention him.

nien_numbBut the most famous Sullustan is not Akkere, he was called Nien Nunb. If you don't remember the name, he was the Sullustan in the Return of the Jedi who was the co-pilot of the Millennium Falcon under the command of Lando Calrissian. You may remember his sputter when he was afraid when the Millenium Falcon almost stuck in a narrow trench of the Death Star, and we may remember his happy laughter when the Death Star was finally destroyed. However his pilot gear was red, it is evident, this is the same race that Akkere is.

Kenner has already released Nien Nunb, whose dumb head seems to be perfect for those, who wanna make a drunken Sullustan custom figure drinking in a cantina, will be ideal for that. The Vintage Nien Nunb is cute, that is one of those figures that the Vintage variation illustrates better, but because of his infant-like face I would use it for the teenager custom figure of Akkere. :-) And there is an other Sullustan, released in the pilot set of Kenner, and a modern rebel pilot evolution item from Hasbro, too. The Sulustan race is popular, so I decided to make the "big ear-big eyes" sputtery grey pilot geared Sullustan character from KotOR2, who is also the part of the KotOR series, a new creature, who was not present in the first episode, but appeared in the second, and made the Star Wars fauna more diversified. BTW big "eye", do you know why are Akkere's eyes so big and shiny? Well, to see things better, like the wolf from the little red riding hood tail. But he does not stare round eyes on the Grandma, but the Handmaiden, when she changed her clothes for Arren Kae Jedi robes, Akkere saw it, take a look at this funny screenshot!

You can listen some unique, and very typical chattering Sullustan sentences from Akkere and Nien Numb clicking these links below. I think the actor, who played Akkere has not got an easy job. Learning and saying these sentences is not a child play. :-)
