The super battledroid is a more powerful combat droid, which was designed with stronger firepower, and a thicker armor by the CIS (Confederacy of Independent Systems). Earlier Trade Federation mass produced armies of the basic battle droids, but the hopes that had been dreamt about them have never come true. In larger numbers, the basic battle droids were formidable opponent for the clones and ever for the Jedi, but they haven't been strong enough. At least not THAT strong, that their designers expected. They were easy to destroy, and their firepower was not strong enough. But the CIS brought large funds into the Separatist cash. They had enough money to build better droids. First they upgraded the old battledroids, these were those red battledroids, which are newer, better. Then they designed the SBD, which was more robust, and had a fearful look. Their large shoulders and upper body, and the head almost in the torso made many people to associate a strong bodybuilder contour. The phase 1 superbattledroids represented a kind of heavy artillery comparing them to the previous battle droids, since they had a much stronger chin double laser cannon, which was more powerful than the droids rifles. Their armor were also stronger, they got a very hard and thick shell. But because of this heavy armor, they were much slower. They can hardly move, they are very slow, however their movement looks like a dreadful and mighty march, but in case they cannot advance too much quicker, then we usually see them. The Phase 1 SBD cannot run, unlike the older battle droids. But they do not need to, their task is different, they only have to get into the area, and shoot everything and everybody. They are a powerful infantry unit with other tasks, then other droids. Other tasks needed other droids. Obviously a commando droid was much faster, jumping all around, acrobatic moves, ninja like warfare, running down the enemy with an ability to use several kind of weapons. But keep in mind, the commando droid was a newer construction.

The B2 battle droid was designed by the Techno Union using the existing B1 design as a template. After prototypes were successfully tested, Count Dooku struck a deal with Poggle the Lesser, Archduke of Geonosis, to mass produce these droids. The B2 was preceded by these prototype beta version. Soon after the Invasion of Naboo, the Trade Federation was researching a new type of battle droid. Commandos from the Royal Naboo Security Forces seized the research facility and discovered the data about this new battle droid, but never found out where, and what would be the final result of those concept plans. When the SBDs were first deployed on Geonosis stepping on the sand of the arena, there were no commando droids, tactical droids, aqua droids, or those cleaner droids that were really rather assassin droid, killing many people on Coruscant by transforming into a bomb detonating the Coruscant power generators in Clone Wars season 3. The SBD were the top category in that moment after the basic battle droids, even like this Phase 1 state. This prototype SBD version is only playable in the game Galactic Battlegrounds.

In the game Galactic Battlegrounds we can build superbattle droids if we control the CIS and if we have Troop center(s). A Phase 1 SBD obviously the trooper of the first tech level, if we advance to level II, Phase 1 SBD can be upgraded to Phase 2. The name of the basic SBD is Trooper recruit, which is kind of funny, since super battle droids do not often volunteer to army, and could not been recruited, but they are built in factories. But fortunately you can see under its name a Super Battle droid Beta version title, which is much better. To build one you have to pay 25 food and 35 carbon. This is not a big sum, however the gamer do not have too much resources in Tech level 1, this price is a fair one. A Phase 1 SBD has 30 HP, which means that is the droid's "life". Its line of sight is 3 , its damage is 7.

If we have built some SBDs, we can start upgrading them. This won't make them Phase 2 droids, simply these works can upgrade some of the abilities of the Phase 1 SBD. For example its armor. We need a War center, where we can improve 2 of their basic attributes. The first icon from the left is basic armor. It costs 100 food, a single price that improves all SBD's armor with +1. Here we go, their armor is thicker. But what the heck, they can hardly move advancing slowly under the weight of their armor! Unfortunately you cannot accelerate them in the first level, but in the next level they can be fastened. But the forth icon can be useful in this first level: that is the primary focusing coils, which helps them aiming, focusing, and with that their shots are more accurate, and powerful. With this, your SBD gains +1 damage after all successful hits. This upgrade also costs 100 food, but makes all troop center units (except AA droids) more powerful by giving them +1 attack. Click on the macrobinoculars icon, too!  This is a great equipment which helps the droid to a better view on the battlefield. It is like if the SBD had a sniper rifle. It costs 75 food, but all troop center units gain +1 line of sight, and additionally all trooper center units, (except mounted trooper, who have a flamethrower) gain +1 range. So this all upgrade means all SBDs notice the enemy from 1 square longer distance, also they are able to open fire at them from that longer range of fire.

Well, that is seems to be all. The Phase 1 SBD can show us that much. This is a good start, a perfect base for later upgrades. After these, the droid can be the best infantry unit of the whole game. But in this level, it is kind of weak. But the enemy troops also weak at this points, but as the time goes if we focus only the troop center units, the difference will be bigger, and the CIS will dominate. The next step will be the real Super Battle droid, which can maybe called Phase 2, because you can build that in the Tech level 2. It will cost 50 food, 10 nova. You have to click that icon which I have pointed with the mouse, and you can start building Super Battle Droids, but I will introduce them in the next article.
