Zoltan Varga and his customs

I am glad to display Zoltan Varga's handmade figures. He is a very fresh color in the colorful personalities here at CustomStarWars' collection section. He makes items which quality is equal to a model. His manual skill is great, but he is not only good at making figures and vehicles, but also pretty good at drawing pictures, so in my opinion he is a talented person. Zoli chooses cool project subjects, handmade them carefully, and virtuously.

I also bought that AT-RT clone walker some years ago, but neither me, nor Zoli were absolutely satisfied with the "factory" AT-RT. Since he did not liked the walker and its pilot, he chose to do what he is really good at - he handmade it for himself. You can check how good it became. You can also check a very special stand under the walker.

The Battle of Hoth is one of the favorite scenes for many of us. Zoltan has his own battle of Hoth, when a snowspeeder is just flying around the AT-AT walker, tow cabling it. That is a really professional work. That is also a cutaway walker, that gives you a good chance to take a look at its interiors, the rooms, and the cockpit, as Zoli dreamt it. The diorama has an action fleet-like golden name plate.

What I enjoyed more than the Battle of Hoth was the Battle of Naboo at the Grassy Plains. There was a grandiose mass scene, there were thousands of deployed battle droids, there were the Gungan Grand Army, and there were these Trade Federation AAT tanks. I have an article of that (will be published at CustomStarWars' Holocron section later), and Zoltan was also impressed by that tank. He pictured that AAT which antigravitation engine was broken, it was lopsided, and "plowed" the field of Naboo. The project has not been fully finished, since the two side cannons are missing, but it is superb in this phase, too.

Expanded Universe comic books has also touched Zoltan's imagination. He has created the most unique, and maybe one of the most interesting Jedi characters from the Dark Empire series, Empatojayos Brand. He is hovering above the ground like the previously mentioned AAT tank, however his firepower cannot be compared with the tank. :-) Brand is a very good subject for a custom figure, but I haven't seen a custom Empatojayos Brand yet.

TK-421 wouldn't ever have thought about he could be one of the best known, most popular stormtrooper of all time. And he didn't have to do anything else, just to collect two huge punches from Chewbacca. :-) Take a look at Zoltan's own 32 centimeter tall (approx. 13 inches, or 1 feet) TK-421 stormtrooper!

The next human character is Sev, the sniper and close combat specialist of the game Republic Commando. According to Zoltan's lines, he made this figure because he liked my Republic Commando article and got the mood to create a custom Sev for himself. This is a honor for me, and I appreciate that very much. If there will be some new customizer guys, if some people get like customizing, if I can help introducing customizing here in Hungary, if I can publish custom articles, and figures to a wider audience, it worthed working for it! Thank you Zoltan! (The guy holding the custom Sev is Zoltan Varga.)

I think Zoltan has a great manual skill, and I respect his works, which are mainly made of paper, carton, wood, plastic, and house hold junk. I am amused about his vehicles and figures, I can't do that, as I am working on basic 3.3/4" figures with milliput and paint them, while he makes these models from the "nothing". This last item is really a model, he "only" assembled it, and painted it, but you can realize the long hours of work, the patient focus on the small parts, and the quality, which represent the advanced customizers.
