Canderous Ordo was born to the Clan Ordo on the Mandalorian planet Ordo. His name (Canderous) can be loosely translated in Mando'a to 'kando' meaning 'important, weighty' and 'ruus' or 'rock' - implying his significance in Mandalorian history, and even for events in the Galaxy. In the game his voice is provided by John Cygan, who has often provided the voice for Dash Rendar in other Star Wars games. Canderous was a true warrior, and although some would call him a fanatic, or even a murderer, he was bound by his honor, and the pressures of the militaristic Mandalorian way of life. Canderous was always impressed by a show of force, and was an advocate of fighting before diplomacy. He respected Revan for his attack on the Mandalorian fleet, and felt no regret or anger about being bested by a clearly superior foe. His driving personality traits were best described as ambition, discipline, aggression, and loyalty. He is such a samurai like guy, maybe that is why he has a tattoo on his left shoulder, very possibly depicting a warrior, maybe a samurai. He possessed great physical strength combined with strategic and tactical skills, so during the game we can use him as a melee fighter, he can jump extremely big leaps, and he can wield a great sword with confidence, bravely rushing into battle on our side in any circumstances. He also had a very good mental stamina - Canderous could resist Jedi mind tricks, his experience on the field of battle allowed him to shrug off most mind-affecting effects including fear-inspiring Force powers, and even fire grenades, and flamethrowers couldn't stop him. Canderous had a cybernetic implant, which allowed him to regenerate minor wounds. His weapon of choice since the latter part of the Mandalorian Wars was a prototype heavy repeater that never saw general production. He has a very good dexterity which is important for using firearms, and we can boost is further with many available accessories, so Canderous could be a very good sniper, and rifleman, too!

The young Canderous soon joined a fighting Mandalorian squad when the time arrived to join the army. In those days, young Mandalorian warriors had prove themselves in real combat. Canderous would always remember his first battle, an 80 kilometer plunge through the atmosphere in his Basilisk War Droid, dodging self-guided projectile and beam weapons. He then destroyed the shield generators of the camp, earning his colors as a good recruit, and became part of the most promising young warriors of his clan. Following the defeat of the Mandalorian Crusaders, he was quickly recruited by Mandalore the Ultimate into the Neo-Crusaders.

After his party was chasing an enemy fleet through the asteroid belts of the Crispin system, their enemy used the frozen methane gas shells of the main belt for cover. Canderous targeted a small asteroid with a thermal generator to cause the outer layer of frozen gas to explode and destroy the hidden ships. After his achievement he became a commander in his squad, and with his lead they were victorious in many battles. The talented Canderous Ordo soon became a great leader of the Mandalorians in the time following the Jedi Civil War, and the Mandalorian Wars afterwards. For thirteen years, before they invaded the Republic the Mandalorians stockpiled resources from the worlds they conquered. This forced the Old Republic to fight back, and they sent out troops to stop the mandalorian invasion. Canderous took part to the First Battle of Althir, in which he defeated an Althiri fleet ten times the size of his own and earned the command of an entire subsect of his clan. However, sometimes were losses, too. In the Althirian battle Canderous changed the pre-decided battle plan, and while his men were fighting as it was decided, Canderous saw a great opportunity to destroy the enemy commander's ship, abandoned his position, which let many of his clan men die. A survivor called Jagi, believed Canderous to be a glory hunter, and was determined to have his revenge. He spent years tracking him down hoping he would have the chance of a face-off with Canderous for his mistake.

The mandalorian forces were victorious almost everywhere and almost against everybody. The Republic seemed also helpless. Revan and some renegade Jedi were joined the war to aid the Old Republic, and soon things began to turn against Canderous and his people. However he was increasingly satisfied with the challenge the Republic put up, and enjoyed the fight against his most worthy opponent, Revan. The battles made Revan something of a hero in his eyes. He respected Revan for his attack on the Mandalorian fleet, and after the lost battles he felt no regret or anger about being bested by a clearly superior foe.

In the close of the conflict, Canderous was among the two fleets that filled the space around Malachor V, where the Mandalorians had committed all of their forces in a last attempt at defeating the Republic. Their doom was sealed, and when the Jedi Exile, (Revan's Jedi General) commanded to activate the mass shadow generator. Most of the remaining ships were crushed onto the surface of the planet by its gravity well. Those outside the scope of the superweapon were able to escape the mass shadows and survive the battle. The Mandalorians surrendered unconditionally, Mandalore was executed by Revan while the others were stripped of their weapons and armor, and sent into exile on the Outer Rim. With nothing to call his own but the honor of having fought in the battle he just lost, Canderous became a mercenary. He eventually ended up on Taris, enforcing for local Exchange boss Davik Kang, but the best challenges that Taris had to offer were nothing to him.

After the end of the Mandalorian Wars, while Revan took up the mantle of Dark Lord of the Sith and started his own crusade against the Republic, Canderous became the most famous Mandalorian mercenary in the Taris Sector. He was feared and well respected, there were no Vulkar heavy guys who wouldn't retreated if they met or just even heard about Canderous Ordo. By the time of the Attack on the Endar Spire, he had been working for Davik for years, and it started not being enough for him. Unhappy with the way his life had turned, when Davik didn't pay Canderous for his services, he decided it was time to move on. Soon after the survivors of the Endar Spire crashlanded at Taris, Canderous met his enemy, Revan in person. However they haven't met before, haven't seen each other before, therefor they didn't recognized they were fighting each other previously. But both noticed the other has an aura, a power, a strength that both respected in the other. Canderous told Revan some data on the local gangs, then said farewell. After Davik sent out Canderous for a salvage mission to the Under City, to the crash sites of the escape pods he met Revan second time, who was headed to the Under City himself with fellow Republic fugitive Carth Onasi in search of Bastila Shan, but the Lower City swoop gangs had already sent their own salvage parties, and captured her already. Down the Under City Canderous lost some of Davik's men to the rakghouls that roamed the place, and when Revan helped him during an attack, Canderous told him the Black Vulkars were the first to get to Bastila's escape pod. So Revan had no other choice just to win the Tarisian Season Opener to "win" Bastila, who was offered as a prize by the Vulkar's leader Brejik. Impressed by his recklessness on the track, Canderous choose him of all people for a plan to escape Taris, which at the time was under Sith quarantine. He needed Revan to break into the Tarisian Military Base and steal the Sith launch codes, without which any ship leaving the atmosphere would have been disintegrated by the Sith fleet's automated defense guns, so he made a deal with him and provided a droid capable of slicing the encrypted security system that protected entrance to the base, T3-M4.

When Revan got the codes, Canderous Ordo joined his party, and they "visited" Davik Kang in his estate. Together they took the Ebon Hawk from Davik Kang and escaped the planet just as the Sith commenced an orbital bombardment that destroyed Taris. Canderous then traveled with Revan in his mission against Darth Malak and the Sith Empire. Canderous often regaled Revan with tales of his past battles, and would later explain that coming with him was a means of finding battles worthy of his skill, something he could not do under Davik. During their journey Canderous soon encountered Jagi, who had not forgotten him; he challenged Canderous to a duel in the Dune Sea of Tatooine to answer for his choices in the Battle of Althir. Canderous did not stand the insult and was determined to kill him so that his honor would remain unblemished, and he finished out his ex-team member, which made him really sad, saying Revan after the incident it was affected him in ways that he didn't anticipate, and he had to think about his life, and need time to sort things out.

At one point, the Ebon Hawk was ambushed by Admiral Saul Karath and tractor beamed by the Sith Interdictor ship Leviathan. Revan was detained with Carth and Bastila apart from the rest of the crew, but arranged for one of the others to stage their rescue. We can select Canderous Ordo for this Leviathan Prison Break quest. His plan would be the following. They have to make the Sith troops that Canderous was repairing some equipment, when it detonated, and "killed" Canderous. So they did, and the equipment injured Ordo severely, however he survived, and his implant started to recover his life. The Sith troops found the seemingly dead Canderous in the engine room, and put him in a quarantine room unguarded. After the implant recovered Canderous health partly enough he could move, he stood up, searched some medipack to fully recover his health, and some weapons, to arm. Then he set out, and cleared the facility from the patrolling and guarding Sith troopers and found Revan, Bastila, and Carth. Once they were rescued, Revan empowered Canderous to lead the others back to the safe Ebon Hawk, while Revan and his two companions headed to the bridge to deactivate the tractor beam. Fighting his way to the docking bays, Canderous got his party on board unscathed.

After escaping the Leviathan, Revan revealed his former identity to the crew. Though shaken, Canderous was proud that he befriended and served with his idol, the ex-Darth Revan, and choose to stay with him during his quest. Canderous followed Revan in his goals, and after Malak's defeat and the triumph of the Old Republic, Canderous was awarded the Cross of Glory along with Revan and his companions for his part in the struggle against the Sith. In the non-canonical Dark Side path of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Canderous stays with Revan truly, he is the only non-droid party member who joins the reborn Darth Revan without question, and helps Bastila, Revan, HK-47, and T3-M4 until the very end. He fought with them together in the Battle of the Star Forge, too. After the dark Revan left for the Unknown Regions, Canderous left to unite the Mandalorian clans and became the new Mandalore, but that is an other story, and a topic for my Mandalore article.
